Monroe County's COVID-19 death toll rose by one Thursday, according to new numbers from the Indiana Department of Health.
The new death brings the county's confirmed death toll to 169.
IDOH also reported 1,261 newly confirmed coronavirus cases statewide and 6 more deaths from COVID-19 Thursday. Those deaths raised Indiana’s pandemic toll to 12,966 confirmed coronavirus-related deaths.
In Monroe County, officials reported 18 new cases, bringing the county total to 11,845 cases. Area hospitalizations decreased to 16.
As of Thursday, 991 Hoosiers were hospitalized with COVID-19 across the state.
Monroe County administered 1,615 second doses and 451 first doses of the two-shot Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, plus 25 single-shot doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine in the last 24 hours. As of Thursday, 39.6% of Monroe County's population over age 16 has been fully vaccinated and 48.9% has received at least one shot.
In total, 50,679 people have received full doses of COVID-19 vaccines in Monroe County.
Across the state, IDOH reports 40,044 more people have become fully vaccinated, with more than 2 million Hoosiers now fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
