Hoosier parents have a few weeks to complete an Indiana Department of Health survey about COVID-19 vaccines for school-aged children. The results will help the state plan a safe fall semester.
Nir Menachemi is the principal investigator of the study at the Richard Fairbanks School of Public Health at IUPUI and said parents can expect to spend five minutes on the anonymous survey.
He said the questions gauge parents’ attitudes and intentions towards vaccines if and when they are authorized for their children’s age groups.
“What would they do if that authorization came through?" Menachemi said. "Would they get the vaccine right away? Would they wait and see? Would they absolutely not get it? And depending on those answers, a couple more questions about what kind of information would be beneficial to you.”
Menachemi said the survey was sent to schools last Friday, and more than 1,000 parents responded by Tuesday afternoon.
It will remain open for another three or four weeks.
