The City of Bloomington says it will follow county guidance on trick-or-treating this year, after not setting official hours last year because of COVID-19.
County and city trick-or-treating hours are set for Sunday, Oct. 31 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
In an email, Monroe County Health Administrator Penny Caudill says the county will operate as they did last year, recommending social distancing while handing out treats and sticking to outdoor interactions.
The Monroe County Health Department website refers to CDC holiday guidance for trick-or-treating. CDC officials have said outdoor trick-or-treating, especially in small groups, should be safe. Its website says to wear a mask if you’re in a larger group or uncertain of other people’s vaccination status.
Other CDC guidance for trick-or-treating involves social distancing with those not in your household.

The CDC’s general guidance for holidays recommends checking COVID-19 numbers in your area while making plans.
In Caudill’s email, she cautions attending any indoor parties where people are unmasked and may be unvaccinated.
