37 new COVID-19 cases confirmed in Monroe County

Monroe County         

Monroe County confirmed 37 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday and 10  Monday. 

One new COVID-19 death was confirmed, bringing the county total to 212.  

The county has been in the yellow advisory for two months. Its seven-day positivity rate is down to 4.4 percent Tuesday from 4.6 percent Monday. The county has confirmed 15,919 cases since the pandemic began. 

In District 8, which includes Monroe, Brown, and Bartholomew counties, 53 people are hospitalized with COVID-19, up from 43 Monday. Hospitalizations haven’t been as low as Monday since Aug. 1 when they were at 34.  

Monroe County’s weekly cases per 100,000 are down to 113 from 121 last week. This statistic is updated every Wednesday.  

Indiana              

The state recorded  2,830 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday, up from 1,276 Monday. The state has reported 1,058,379  COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic.     

The Indiana Department of Health confirmed  42 new COVID-19 deaths, and the total since the pandemic began is 16,577.  

The state recorded 1,468 hospitalizations Tuesday, up from 1,376 Monday.

The state’s seven-day positivity rate is 9.1 percent Tuesday, up from 8.8 percent Monday.
