COVID cases, hospitalizations on rise in Monroe County

Monroe County           

Monroe County confirmed 35 new COVID-19 cases Monday, after confirming 27 last week on Monday.   

No new COVID-19 deaths were confirmed, and the total since the pandemic began is 217.   

The county has been in the yellow advisory for two months. Its seven-day positivity rate is 5.8 percent, and was 5.1 last Monday.  

In District 8, which includes Monroe, Brown, and Bartholomew counties, 81 people are hospitalized with COVID-19, and 63 were hospitalized on Monday last week.  

Monroe County’s weekly cases per 100,000 are up to 186 from 123 the week before. This statistic is updated every Wednesday.    

Indiana                

The state recorded  2,960 new COVID-19 cases Monday, compared to 1,914 last Monday. The state has reported 1,097,128  COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic.       

The Indiana Department of Health confirmed two new COVID-19 deaths Monday, and the total since the pandemic began is 16,853. 

The state recorded 2,012 hospitalizations Monday, up from the 1,707 recorded last Monday.  

The state’s seven-day positivity rate is up to 11.9 percent from 10.5 percent this time last week.
