Several severe thunderstorms are anticipated to sweep through south-central Indiana late Friday beginning around midnight and will continue overnight into early Saturday morning.
Potential hazards include heavy rainfall, localized flooding, damaging winds, and tornadoes. Current tornado risk probabilities for Friday night range from 5-10% across Indiana. The National Weather Service indicates the fast storm motion, overnight timing, and atypical time of year for this system to form could make this potential event “ exceptionally dangerous .”
Up to an inch of precipitation is expected in the next 24 hours, with higher amounts possible.. Skies will begin to clear out by early afternoon Saturday, transitioning to a stream of sunny to partly cloudy skies through Wednesday. Increasing cloud cover later in the week may indicate small chances of scattered showers Wednesday night into Thursday.
Temperatures are expected to climb Friday in response to the incoming storm system with highs in the lower 60s rising into the upper 60s around 1 a.m. The cold front will decrease temperatures throughout Saturday, plummeting into the mid-to-upper 30s by 4 p.m..
Next week, expect highs in the upper 40s on Sunday, mid-50s Monday and Tuesday, and a peak in the lower 60s on Wednesday. Expect lows in the upper 20s next Saturday night to swell into the 30s next Sunday and Monday nights, leveling near 50 by next Wednesday.
