Monroe County confirmed 76 COVID-19 cases Thursday, the most so far this week. The county added 54 cases Wednesday. Last week, the most cases confirmed in a day was 80.
The 7-day positivity rate was 8.5 percent Thursday, the same as Wednesday.
One new death was added to the county’s total since the pandemic began, which is now 224.
In District 8, which includes Monroe, Brown, and Bartholomew counties, hospitalizations were up to 148 on Thursday from 142 on Wednesday. The last time hospitalizations were above 148 was Dec. 29, 2020, when they were at 151.
The county re-entered the orange advisory level last week and remained there. Its weekly cases per 100,000 were down to 260 from 279 last week.
Statewide, every county was back in either the orange or red advisory level, indicating higher levels of spread.
The state confirmed 5,486 cases Thursday and 4,732 on Wednesday. Last week, the state recorded more than 5,000 cases three days in a row.
The Indiana Department of Health also confirmed 55 COVID-19 deaths Thursday, and the total since the pandemic began rose to 17,704.
Hospitalizations were at 3,029, down from 3,058 on Wednesday. The state’s positivity rate was 14 percent.
