Testing and Vaccines

The county is offering free COVID-19 testing and vaccinations from Monday, Dec. 20 to Wednesday, Dec. 22 from noon to 8 p.m. at the Switchyard Park Pavilion.

The pavilion is located at 1601 South Rogers Street. Walk-in appointments are available. Or patrons can go to www.oushot.in.gov to make an appointment.

Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson vaccines will be available for adults, and Pfizer doses for those 5 to 17 years old will be distributed as well.

Rapid antigen tests and PCR tests will be offered.

COVID-19 numbers Monroe County 

Monroe County confirmed 17 COVID-19 cases Monday after confirming 54 on Friday. Last week, the most cases confirmed in a day was 73.

The 7-day positivity rate was 7.6 percent Monday. Two weeks ago, the rate was consistently above 9 percent.

No new deaths were added to the county’s total. Since the pandemic began, the county has recorded 225 deaths.

In District 8, which includes Monroe, Brown, and Bartholomew counties, hospitalizations dropped to 125 Monday after hitting 150 last Thursday. That was the highest they’d been since Dec. 29, 2020 when they hit 151. Last week, the average number of hospitalizations in the district was 143.

The county re-entered the orange advisory level two weeks ago. Its weekly cases per 100,000 were down to 260 from 279 last week. This number gets updated on Wednesdays.

Statewide, every county was back in either the orange or red advisory level­, indicating higher levels of spread.

The state confirmed 2,554 cases Monday. Last week, the lowest number of cases recorded was 2,694 on Monday.

The Indiana Department of Health confirmed no COVID-19 deaths Monday, and the total since the pandemic began rose to 17,853

Hospitalizations were at 2,971 which is down from just over 3,000 Friday. The average number of hospitalizations last week was approximately 3,007. The state’s positivity rate was 13.5 percent.
