The Indiana DNR warns that people who used a third-party social media source to reserve a campsite in nature areas in southern and central Indiana could be the victim of a scam.

According to a press release, Indiana DNR Law enforcement is investigating one possible scam, which could date back as far as July 2021.

The release said a third-party has been advertising and renting campsites in Indiana state forests and parks. Customers, upon arrival, found the site they paid for unavailable.

The release stated reports of this occurring come from Spring Mill, McCormick’s Creek, Trine State Recreation Area, Morgan-Monroe and Greene-Sullivan State Forests.
