Judge Sabrina Bell resigns following investigation

Crawford County Judge Sabrina Bell has resigned following an investigation by the Indiana Commission of Judicial Qualifications into a domestic violence charge. The commission closed its investigation after Bell agreed to submit a letter of resignation to the governor’s office on July 15.

Under the terms of Bell’s resignation, she has agreed not to seek judicial office again in the state and will voluntarily relinquish her attorney license for five months following a domestic dispute with her ex-husband. Police charged her charged with domestic battery in the presence of a child after she struck him on the neck and cheek in view of two of their three children.

The commission’s now-closed investigation is separate from the criminal investigation against Bell.

Bell had been suspended previously in November 2019 for her involvement in a brawl and shooting with two other judges at a White Castle in Indianapolis.

Bell could not be reached for comment.
