She won the Democratic primary in May with 35 percent of the vote, and Karen Wrenback trailed with 30 percent.
Salzmann said even though judges have to run connected to a party, once they're elected the position operates in a bipartisan way. She added that her experience as judge pro tempore and fluency in Spanish were appealing to voters.
Carl Lamb (R) ran unopposed in May’s primary. He graduated from IU McKinney School of Law in 1984 and practices criminal and civil law with Carl Lamb and Associates.
Steven T. Galvin filled the position for 18 year and retired this year.
The Monroe County Circuit Court has nine divisions and has jurisdiction over every category of case that can be filed. Circuit Courts 5 and 6 were also up for election this year with incumbent candidates Mary Ellen Diekhoff (D) and Holly M. Harvey (D) running unopposed for their seats.
