Paoli Peaks announced the end of its 2022-2023 season Wednesday.

The resort’s general manager Chris Shadid blamed the short season on an unusually warm winter.

In a Facebook post on February 22 nd, the ski resort said, “Mather Nature wasn’t on our side this year, and while we worked hard to manage through the rain and warm weather, we no longer have the snow base needed to remain open.”

A look at the live view on the resort’s website showed slopes covered not in snow, but in dirt and mud.

The news comes after a season fraught with difficulties, including having to delay its target opening date nearly two weeks and pausing operations sporadically due to warm conditions.

In the same post, Paoli Peaks thanked its team members and guests, while promising to be “working hard in the off season to prepare for a better season ahead.”

Shadid says guests who purchased tickets for skiing, snowboarding or tubing should expect to receive emails regarding refunds soon.

Colorado-based Vail Resorts purchased Paoli Peaks in 2019. Critics say conditions at Paoli have gone down hill since Vail took over. Last year, Paoli was open through the first week of March.
