A Crown Point man was arrested Sept. 8 on charges related to his actions during the U.S. Capitol breach Jan. 6, 2021.
Gregory Mijares, 41, was charged with a felony offense of civil disorder. He is also charged with misdemeanor offenses of disorderly conduct after entering a restricted building.
Mijares traveled to Washington, D.C., to protest the 2020 election and attend a rally in support of former president Donald Trump. He entered the Capitol after the rally. Law enforcement officials said that while in the building, he got into several fights with officers. He was on Capitol grounds for approximately 53 minutes.
Mijares was interviewed by FBI in March, confirming that he entered Capitol grounds.
Further information has not been released at this time.
According to the release, more than 1,146 individuals have been arrested in connection with the assault on the Capitol.
