Indiana Conservation Officers and the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department are requesting civilian assistance to identify a woman who was found dead in the White River near Columbus.

A kayaker found the woman’s body Wednesday. It was partially submerged on a sandbar by the Water Street access ramp.

Officials describe the body as a white woman in her late 40s to early 50s, about 5 feet, 2 inches and 135 pounds. She has brown hair and hazel eyes. She has two scars that could assist in identification, according to officials. She was found wearing blue jeans, a blue jacket and a shirt that says “Las Vegas Nevada Athletic Dept.”

Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Detective Sgt. Dane Duke asks that anyone with information on a missing person who matches this description call his office at 812-343-0707, or the Indiana Conservation Officers central dispatch at 812-837-9535.
