Bowling alley and entertainment center locating at old Lucky’s Market

A bowling alley and entertainment center is coming to Bloomington’s south side, where the old Lucky’s Market used to be.

William McCrary bought the space in March. He started remodeling last week and expects it to be ready in the spring.

“We just wanted to expand and move up to Bloomington,” McCrary said. “…we feel like it serves a good purpose in the county and city for what we're supplying.”

Hoosier Alley Entertainment will also have axe throwing, laser tag, an arcade, pickleball, and full-service bar and dining service for the bowling lanes.

McCrary and his wife run a bowling alley in Paoli, which they opened 17 years ago.

“We've been in the bowling business, me and my wife, that's where we met, in a bowling center in Tennessee,” he said. “We've been in bowling our whole life.”

McCrary bought the Irish Lion's downtown building location and its liquor license for the bowling alley. McCrary has since sold that space.

A Dave and Busters restaurant is set to open on Bloomington’s east side in the old Bed Bath and Beyond building. But McCrary is not concerned with competition.

“We're after totally different clientele,” he said. “Our clientele is basically from eight to 80. We want family of all ages.”

The space is in a strip mall. It has stood empty since Lucky’s Market closed in 2020.
