A Morgan County judge is weighing bail for a Mooresville teen accused of plotting a school shooting.
Trinity Shockley, 18, remains in jail while the magistrate considers the prosecution’s recommended $500,000 property surety bond and $250,000 cash bond versus the $30,000 surety and $2,000 cash bond advocated by the defense.
Shockley's bail hearing took place Tuesday morning.

Morgan County Prosecutor Steve Sonnega said the FBI and school district are still early in their investigation, and it may take months for the county to build its case.
“The fact that sometimes the system moves slowly and cautiously and thoroughly is a good thing for the accused, but also for the citizens, the public, and the school administrators and students at Mooresville High School,” Sonnega said.

Sonnega stressed Shockley is innocent until proven guilty. He added the conditions for bail are still being ironed out, and could include GPS monitoring, restricted access to firearms and mental health counseling.
The court also granted the defense’s request for more time to review Shockley’s statements with police before issuing a ruling.
Defense attorney Joseph Gaunt declined a request for comment.
Shockley’s trial is scheduled for June 10.
