Indiana University's women's basketball team defeated Utah, 76-68, Friday afternoon in the first round of the NCAA tournament in Columbia, S.C.
Yarden Garzon led the Hoosiers with 17 points and seven rebounds. The Hoosiers shot 58 percent from the floor.
Ninth-seeded IU improved its record to 20-12.
The Hoosiers' second-round game on Sunday is likely to be against defending national champion South Carolina on its home court.
