Indiana State University cuts 32 positions

Indiana State University has eliminated 32 positions due to budget cuts, including the vice president for student affairs, the executive director of diversity, inclusion, and belonging, and the university communication director.

The Terre Haute Tribune-Star acquired a list of the affected positions.

Twenty of the positions were vacant and will not be filled. The ten current employees losing their jobs will be offered severance.

In May, ISU President Mike Godard announced budget cuts that included job eliminations and administrative restructuring.

After a $2.4 billion shortfall in Indiana’s state budget, all public higher education institutions will experience a five percent cut in their funding for 2025-2026. For ISU, which is already trying to recover from a sharp decline in enrollment, that means a reduction of about $3.9 million.
