The county has invested heavily in those hot buns, pledging up to $3,746,000 in 2023 to pay for water, sewer and road connections to the area.
Bartholomew County granted Grillo’s a 10-year property tax deal that the Greater Columbus Indiana Economic Development Corporation said would save it around $1.2 million.
The Indiana Economic Development Corporation is also contributing up to $1.4 million in incentive-based tax credits.
Grillo’s said it expects to employ about 150 workers at the new plant.
Nearby Columbus, Ind. houses one of the state’s largest industrial workforces, with around 38 percent of workers tied in some way to manufacturing, according to the Greater Columbus Indiana EDC.
