Join us for a fun, 8-week class designed for adults who are new to the ukulele
or looking to build a strong foundation.
No prior musical experience is required. Bring your own ukulele or lend

In this class, you'll:

Sutton Foster is a two-time Tony Award-winning actress, singer, and dancer widely recognized as one of Broadway’s leading performers. For her Bloomington performance, she will be joined onstage by IU dance and choral students along with local K-12 performers for what promises to be a special evening.

Foster most recently starred as Princess Winnifred in Once Upon a Mattress during its acclaimed Broadway revival. Prior, she starred as Mrs. Lovett in the Tony Award-winning Broadway revival of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, as well as Marian Paroo in the 2022 Broadway revival of The Music Man, earning her seventh Tony Award nomination.

She first rose to prominence originating the title role in Broadway’s Thoroughly Modern Millie, earning her first Tony Award, and later won her second for Anything Goes. Her extensive stage credits include The Drowsy Chaperone, Shrek the Musical, Young Frankenstein, Violet, and Sweet Charity.

On screen, Foster starred in TV Land’s Younger and appeared in Bunheads, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, and the final season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. As a solo artist, she has toured the country with stops at Carnegie Hall, Feinstein’s, Lincoln Center’s American Songbook series, and many others. Foster holds an honorary doctorate from Ball State University, where she also teaches.

Iconic comedian Paula Poundstone is known for her smart, observational humor and a spontaneous wit that has become the stuff of legend. She regularly plays theaters across the country, hosts a weekly comedy podcast, Nobody Listens to Paula Poundstone, and is a regular panelist on NPR’s Wait, Wait… Don’t Tell Me. She also voiced the character ‘Forgetter Paula’ in the feature films Inside Out and Inside Out 2.

Paula has starred in several HBO specials, including Cats, Cops and Stuff, which nabbed a cable ACE award for Best Comedy Special. She was the first female comic to host the White House Correspondents Dinner. She filmed live coverage of the 1992 Democratic and Republican National Conventions and the Presidential Inaugural for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and at the 93rd Emmy Awards. Paula has starred in two television series, both entitled The Paula Poundstone Show.

Paula’s second book, The Totally Unscientific Study of the Search for Human Happiness, was one of eight semi-finalists for the Thurber Prize for American Humor; the audiobook was one of five finalists for the AUDIE award for Audiobook of the Year.

Paula has released five albums and is featured in several documentaries and compendiums noting influential comedians of our time.
