This new exhibition features a variety of costume and scenic designs by the late Robert O’Hearn, alumnus and professor emeritus of opera studies in the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University. O’Hearn also worked as an opera, ballet, and theater designer for the Metropolitan Opera, IU Opera and Ballet Theater, Broadway, and other opera and theater companies across the country and Europe. A selection from the 600+ works that are now held by the University Archives celebrates O’Hearn as a visual storyteller, talented artist, and impactful designer.
All ages are invited to view and explore "Art as Inquiry", a juried climate art exhibition at the Pillar Arts Alliance Center, Bloomington, IN from Apr 2–29. Featuring 2 D and 3 D artworks from 25 artists across several states, “Art as Inquiry” invites visitors to encounter climate research and climate unease, ecological change, and environmental justice through the lens of artistic imagination.

April 19, 3–6 pm – Climate Co lab Reception + Nature Walk performance; brief introductions of artists and partners. Beginning April 19, six more artworks from the Climate Co lab (organized by Brushes for a Better Planet) join the exhibition, displayed alongside the Art as Inquiry works. Refreshments; all welcome.

Featuring leading researchers from Harvard Medical School, Harvard School of Public Health, and Indiana University, the discussion focuses on improving how mental health is portrayed—moving beyond clichés toward more accurate, nuanced representations. The goal is to identify practical ways to reshape how mental health is depicted, understood, and addressed across modern media.
Join us at IU Libraries Lilly Library on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 for the annual Ruth C. Engs Lecture on Public Health. We are excited to welcome this year’s speakers, Dr. Melissa Tedone and Dr. Rosie Grayburn, Lead Conservator and Conservation Scientist for the Poison Book Project. The speakers will discuss their research focusing on identifying potentially toxic pigments used in bookbinding components and how to handle and store potentially toxic collections more safely.
Along with refreshments, visitors will have the opportunity to explore the history of science and healthcare through a hands-on pop-up exhibition of some of the Lilly Library’s renowned historical medical materials.

Marrowood the Musical 4/23, 4/24 6pm Jackson Creek Middle School $5Marrowood is a new musical fantasy by Joe Donnelly and his son Torin MacLaughlin. Featuring a stellar cast and pit with fantastic large puppet costumes and video projections. This is a fundraiser for the JCMS scholarship fund, which has provided lessons for over 40 students.
