Tiny Tomatoes Cause Salmonella Scare

Grape tomatoes that are often used in salads and on kabobs are being recalled in multiple states across the country.

So far no illnesses have been reported, but the FDA is recalling the tomatoes based on fears of salmonella.

All Over The Place

The tomatoes were sold at Albertson's, Raley's, Safeway, Savemart, Sam's Club and Walmart stores in Arizona, California, Navada, Oregon, Washington, New Mexico, Idaho, Montana, Colorado, South Dakota, Wyoming, Nebraska and Utah.

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, salmonella is a bacterial infection. Most people infected with salmonella develop diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps 12 to 72 hours after infection. The illness usually lasts 4 to 7 days, and most people recover without treatment.

To Eat Or Not To Eat

If you think you have affected products, do not eat them. Return them to the place of purchase for a refund.

A new search feature on the FDA website has made it easy for consumers to learn about recalls like this.
