A procession in honor of an Indiana National Guard soldier who was killed last week during training at Fort Hood, Texas, will end in Martinsville Thursday night.
According to a Facebook post from Neal & Summers Funeral and Cremation Center, the procession will begin when Staff Sgt. Andrew Michael St. John’s body arrives at Indianapolis International Airport and will continue down to Martinsville.
The post says the procession is scheduled to leave the airport at 10:15 p.m., travel south via State Road 67 and arrive in Martinsville sometime between 10:45 and 11:15 p.m.
A release from the Indiana National Guard says St. John was serving as an embedded observer/controller and died last Thursday night in a tactical vehicle accident. It says the cause of death is still under investigation.
The Neal & Summers post encourages people who want to pay their respects to sit, stand or park along Main Street between Jackson Street and Morgan Street in Martinsville.
It asks people not to congregate around the funeral home out of respect for the family.
