For the first time this season, fans were able to enjoy beer and wine at Memorial Stadium.
As part of a part of a pilot program, Indiana retained Upland Brewery to provide beer and wine at all Indiana University home football games this season.
“It’s been really great, next week is going to be crazy though for the Ohio State game, it’s been a nice steady flow,” said vendor Danyele Green before the Hoosier football team routed Eastern Illinois in the 2019 home opener.
Green says 10 to 15 percent of her beer sales goes to her non-profit “Our Little Bit of Heaven” dog rescue.
Beer sales stop at the end of the third quarter in each game.
A task force that recommended that beer and wine sales would increase attendance at football games and decrease the amount of alcohol related incidents on gameday.
Beer and wine stands are located throughout the concourse at Memorial Stadium, but it is not sold by vendors in the stands.
Five other Big Ten schools, Purdue, Ohio State, Illinois, Rutgers and Maryland also sell alcohol in their stadiums.
