Marion Co. Prosecutor Terry Curry To Resign For Health Reasons

The prosecutor for Indiana's largest county is resigning after nine years in the position while undergoing prostate cancer treatments.

Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry said Monday he must focus on his health and family. Curry is an Indianapolis Democrat and was first elected in 2010.

Curry says he began cancer treatment in 2015. He also underwent triple cardiac bypass surgery in 2011.

Curry has overseen several major criminal cases, including murder charges in a  2012 house explosion that killed two people and damaged more than 80 homes. He also  pushed for a state hate crimes law and  criticized President Donald Trump as politicizing the case of an immigrant illegally living in the U.S. and charged in a 2018 drunken crash that killed Indianapolis Colts linebacker Edwin Jackson and another man.
