Ivy Tech Community College announced Monday it will consolidate its Southwest region in Evansville and Tell City with the Wabash Valley region in Terre Haute. The consolidation is the latest in a series of Ivy Tech consolidations statewide.
President of Ivy Tech Community College Tom Snyder says instead of having a chancellor and vice chancellor at every campus, they will transition to one CEO that oversees the major cities. Snyder says the college system will save money by reducing administrative positions, but the money saved will stay at the campus level.
"Any savings that are made in Terre Haute stays in the Terre Haute region," Snyder said. "Any savings made in Evansville stays in the Evansville region, because that's the way we're budgeted. So they'll be able to re-deploy that to more full time faculty and more advisors."
Snyder says they expect to announce a new chancellor for the Terre Haute/Evansville area this month or early May.
