Local Runner Completes Boston: 'It Was Wonderful!'

We're happy to report DeAnne Weaver, the Columbus-area runner we profiled about her experience running Boston last year, completed yesterday's marathon and calls the experience wonderful.

"It was wonderful to be part of such a prestigious race and a race that was summed up as bringing redemption to the town of Boston. I heard many times- taking back our finish line," Weaver said Tuesday during a phone interview from Boston.

About 5,000 people including Weaver were forced to stop last year when a series of bombs exploded near the finish line.

"One of the most surreal moments was before the race – a day or two ago my husband and I went back and found the spot on the course where we had stopped at and that was really emotional. It kind of brought it full circle to come back and see that," Weaver said.

Weaver and her husband are spending a few days sightseeing before coming back to Indiana.

"A lot of people here of course have run the marathon and you can pretty much pick out who they are by how they're walking today."

Weaver had said this would be her last Boston Marathon. She finished the 26.2 mile race in 4:23:08.

"Not having the finish I would have liked, I'll never say never."
