The Bloomington Police Department responded to a call regarding a possible shooting this morning at Meadowood Retirement Community in Bloomington. A man and woman were found dead in one of the rooms in an apparent murder-suicide.
In a statement released by the Bloomington Police Department this afternoon, the police believe the 77-year-old man killed the 76-year-old woman before killing himself.
The police are not releasing the identities of the victims.
Meadowood Executive Director Larry A. Diersing released the following written statement:
"This morning we had a tragic incident involving a resident of our community. Because of state and federal privacy laws, we cannot provide any further information about this resident. We take the safety and well being of our residents very seriously and are cooperating with the authorities to investigate this matter. We will provide whatever support and assistance we can to our residents, families and staff during this challenging time."
