The Kokomo City Council plans to vote tonight on whether to approve a three-year tax abatement for a manufacturing company that wants to make a $1.4 million expansion to its facility.
Coan Engineering, a designer of transmissions and torque converters for the drag racing, off-road, monster truck and performance street market, expects the expansion to lead to ten new full-time jobs.
The tax abatement is expected to be approved as it was coordinated by the Greater Kokomo Economic Development and the City of Kokomo.
In a statement, Kokomo Mayor Greg Goodnight also expressed his support for the expansion, saying it strengthens the city as a manufacturing center.
