Bloomington Newcomers, Here's What's Up With The Roads

As students make their way to Bloomington for a new school year, we're taking a look at what newcomers to the area need to know. In the second part of this web series, we're getting new Bloomington residents up to speed on area road construction.

When you're new in town, navigating the tangle of unknown streets can be stressful and confusing, and construction only adds to the headache.

Here are a few tips for those of you who are new to the area:

The Bloomington city government has a handy, interactive tool called inRoads that displays a map of closures, lane restrictions and other road-related happenings that could cause delays.

Construction on Jordan Avenue on the Indiana University campus is expected to continue until early October, the Herald Times reports.

As the summer nears its end, some of the other construction around campus will be wrapping up soon, but new projects have a tendency to appear frequently.

Additionally, if you're traveling outside Bloomington heading north on State Road 37, expect delays near Martinsville because of lane closures, and if you're heading into town on a game day, plan ahead.

Traffic can become snarled on State Road 46 near Memorial Stadium and Assembly Hall.

Last, keep an eye out for those one-way roads in town — they're everywhere.
