Bloomington Will Be Host To 'Krampus Night'

Bloomington will be getting a visit this Saturday from the scary companion of Santa Claus, known as Krampus.

During the parade Saturday night, Krampus will frighten children wearing stickers that say "naughty." The devils may even chase people with switches.

Kel McBride is an organizer of Bloomington's Krampus Night.

"One of the things that I like best about the Krampus Night is the expressions of the kids of absolute terror and joy. They're having a great time, and there are screams and smiles, and I've never seen that many smiles at a parade ever," McBride says.

It's a tradition in the Austrian and German Alps for young men to dress as Krampus to scare misbehaving children.

The Krampus Bazaar will begin 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the Showers Commons in downtown Bloomington.
