Morning Headlines: Friday, November 13, 2015

Good morning! Here are some of the stories we are following today.

1. More than 1700 people were turned away from domestic violence shelters.

Between July 2013 and July 2014, more than 1700 people seeking shelter in Indiana domestic violence shelters were turned away due to lack of space.

That number is nearly triple what it was the year before.

2. School corporations across Indiana are receiving grant funding for school safety. 

Governor Mike Pence announced Thursday that the state is giving out $10 million to school corporations around the state to improve school safety.

The matching grant funds can be used by schools to conduct threat assessments, purchase equipment, or hire a school resource officer.

3. Indiana is accepting applications to replace Supreme Court Justice, Brent Dickson.

Do you have what it takes to be Indiana's next Supreme Court justice?

While the final decision will ultimately be made my Governor Pence, Indiana is asking for applications. Applicants must be Indiana residents with at least 10 years of experience practicing law, or five years experience of being a judge in the state.
