Morning Headlines: Thursday, October 22, 2015

Good morning! Here are some of the stories we are following today.

1. The Hoosier state once again breaks a record for preventable medical errors. 

After setting a record in 2013 with 111 preventable adverse medical events, Indiana broke its own record in 2014 with 114 events.

According to The Indy Star, the state collects data on these incidents, however studies show that in states that require that these incidents are recorded, most remain unreported.

2. Indiana is joining other states in questioning the legality of daily fantasy sports. 

After a data leak scandal rocked the daily fantasy sports industry last month, Indiana is now jumping into the discussion on its legality.

State Sen. Luke Kenley, R-Noblesville,  wants the attorney general to weigh in on this issue, to see whether daily fantasy sports constitutes as gambling, or is truly a game of skill.

3. Indiana releases a new app that is designed to help Hoosiers avoid common injuries. 

Indiana's Department of Health just released a new app designed to help Hoosiers avoid or prevent some health issues.

The app features tips on some common causes of injury, including distracted driving and prescription drug overdoses.
