Little Nashville Opry One Step Closer To Opening

The owner of the Little Nashville Opry off State Road 46 in Brown County says he's cleared a major hurdle when it comes to rebuilding the local music venue.

Scott Wayman says he received a permit from the state that will allow him to install a proper sewer system on the site, which sits on a floodplain. State law prohibits structures built in such areas from running off a septic system.

Wayman bought the property for $57,600 at a tax sale in 2012. A fire destroyed the building in 2009. Former Opry Manager James Bowyer was arrested and charged with arson but was found not guilty of the crime.

Wayman says he's unsure when the Little Nashville Opry will reopen but is hoping to move forward with plans quickly.
