Near Whiteout Conditions Possible Later Tonight

Forecasters at the National Weather Service are calling for an additional one to three inches of snow by Tuesday afternoon due to a strong upper level disturbance and cold front moving through the area.

Motorists should be on the lookout for brief intense snow squalls late tonight and Tuesday morning that could produce whiteout conditions. Wind gusts near 40 MPH along with more snow will make the Tuesday morning commute difficult.

Indiana State Police troopers responded to more than 140 calls for service on Sunday following a day of snow and ice on the roads. Of those calls, 52 were property damage crashes. 14 other crashes resulted in injuries to one or more people.

Forecasters say snow flurries should taper off by Tuesday afternoon. Tuesday highs are excepted to reach 24 degrees, overnight lows falling to 5 degrees.
