Pence Says He'll Keep Legislative Agenda Narrowly Focused

Gov. Mike Pence plans to roll out a legislative agenda for the upcoming session sometime next month.

Pence has already announced plans to seek a $1 billion commitment to road and bridge maintenance. The governor also wants to shield teacher pay from an expected drop in ISTEP+ scores. He says he'll have economic proposals beyond that.

But Pence says he's keeping his agenda narrowly focused.

"It's a short session, so we'll try and focus on those things that will continue to accelerate economic growth, education progress and, of course, the infrastructure proposal we laid out in the 21st Century Crossroads Plan," Pence says.

Legislators will only be in town for about 10 weeks.
