Season Over At Two Indianapolis High Schools After Fight

There will be no more girls basketball games this season at Ben Davis and Pike High Schools.

The IHSAA suspended seasons for both teams after a fight broke between players at a game.

Cell phone video showed the scuffle with a least one player stomping on another person.

IHSAA Commissioner Bobby Cox handed down the punishment on Monday.

Both teams will be required to take a role modeling and behavior course, and student athletes will have to take a sportsmanship course.

The IHSAA will also be monitoring both teams next year.

"For the 2016-17 school year, both teams will be on probation with the association," Cox announced.

In a statement Cox called the athlete's behavior dangerous and said it called for 'swift and consistent correction.'

"The IHSAA takes no pleasure in the issuance of these sanctions, nevertheless remains staunchly committed to proper sportsmanship and decorum in the interscholastic athletic setting," said Cox.
