After Shooting, Planned Parenthood Clinics Review Security

Planned Parenthood clinics in Indiana are reviewing security measures following the fatal shooting in Colorado last week.

The Planned Parenthood office in downtown Indianapolis says it's seen an increase in threats after an anti-abortion group released videos this summer purporting to show evidence of the sale of fetal tissue.

Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky says it has been in touch with local police and the FBI.

All Indiana clinics were open Monday, and despite the recent shooting and increase in threats, Planned Parenthood says all of its clinics will remain open.

Fox59 reports:

"It's incredibly important for everybody to understand this kind of behavior cannot be rewarded," Cockrum said. "We cannot stand down."

FBI officials reportedly had warned local law enforcement months ago of a potential attack. Cockrum declined to elaborate on specifics of the increased security statewide.

"Obviously it doesn't make sense for us to really share what they look like," she said. "But you dust off everything and make sure the batteries are current."

...

"It's a terrible, terrible thing," Sen. Joe Donnelly, D-Indiana, said. "It's a disgrace. It's murder. It's a terrorist act."

Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky President and CEO Betty Cockrum says security is already a huge part of the organization's operation, but that officials are continuing to review security measures.
