Can You Take A 'Ballot Selfie' While Voting? Hoosiers Can

As people take advantage of early voting, the question of "ballot selfies" has surfaced once again.

The issue has been contentious in Indiana. Legislators passed a law in 2015 banning taking photos in a voting booth. But after the ACLU of Indiana sued the state over the ban, a federal judge struck the law down.

It's currently legal for Hoosiers to take "ballot selfies" this November, but the law's author doesn't want to give up on the fight to ban the photos.

A Tennessee law that took effect earlier this year bars voters from taking photographs or video while they're inside a polling location.

Federal courts have struck down bans in New Hampshire and Indiana, and on Monday, a judge in Michigan blocked enforcement of a ban on ballot selfies, saying it violates free speech.
