Good morning! Here are a few of the top stories for today:
From the Associated Press: An anesthesiologist is accused of stealing narcotics from the Muncie hospital where he worked and of taking part in medical procedures while on those drugs. The (Muncie) Star Press reports 51-year-old Jose Ramos was arrested Wednesday at his Fort Wayne home and was charged with four felony counts of possession of a narcotic drug, four misdemeanor counts of theft and two misdemeanor counts of criminal recklessness. Ramos was being held in the Delaware County Jail on a $32,000 bond. Court records do not indicate he has hired an attorney. Delaware County Prosecutor Jeffrey Arnold issued a press release indicating the arrest followed "an intensive eight-month investigation" by the DEA and his office. Ramos took a leave from IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie in October.
From the Associated Press: The Indiana Court of Appeals has ruled that a northern Indiana man convicted of using a samurai sword to stab his brother to death in 2014 is not entitled to a reduction in his 60-year prison sentence. The (Munster) Times reports the Court of Appeals ruled Wednesday that while 48-year-old Bradley Arndt of Trail Creek in LaPorte County has a long history of undiagnosed mental illness, including multiple visits by Adult Protective Services that resulted in no action, it did not find his sentence to be inappropriate. Police said 54-year-old Thomas Arndt of Michigan City was found stabbed multiple times on the front lawn of a home in Trail Creek with the 40-45-inch sword stuck in the ground nearby. Trail Creek is a community 60 miles east of Chicago.
