Daybook: Park Dedication & War Memorial Repairs

Good morning! Here are the top stories for today:

  • Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett will dedicate an Indy park in honor of Dan Wakefield today at 2:00 p.m., an Indiana author and journalist. The park at Broadway and 61st St. will be named after Wakefield, featuring a new sign with his name. Follow Jessica Yarvin ( @JYarvin) for details. 

    • The Indiana State Board of Education meets today at 4:00 p.m. for discussion on several items, but voting won't take place until tomorrow. Follow Claire McInerny ( @ClaireMcInerny) of Indiana Public Broadcasting for updates from the meeting.

      • A war memorial in Owen County is being repaired for the first time. The memorial honors local military veterans, and also has a second monument that lists names of all Owen County veterans killed in combat. The repairs are expected to be complete by the end of June.
