Democratic gubernatorial candidate John Gregg outraised incumbent Republican Mike Pence in the first quarter of 2016.
Without last minute support from a national group, Pence would've been outraised by nearly two-to-one.
John Gregg brought in more than $1.8 million to start 2016, with the single biggest donations from Fred Eychaner, a major Democratic donor out of Chicago, and Indianapolis' Christel Dehaan, typically a GOP supporter.
Governor Mike Pence raised about $1.5 million in the first quarter of the year, but about a third of that total came from the Republican Governors Association on the final day of the period.
Pence still leads in cash-on-hand, with more than $7.5 million through March compared to Gregg's $5 million.
The Gregg campaign says the fundraising numbers are a sign of the public's dissatisfaction with the governor.
The Pence team says it will have the resources necessary to execute its campaign.
