Monroe County Correctional Center Inmate Dead After Jumping

An inmate at the Monroe County Correction Center has died after jumping from the upper level of the cell block Saturday morning.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office says 33-year-old Michael Favor of Unionville had been in jail since March 23 on a parole violation and possession of methamphetamine.

Investigators say a surveillance video shows Favor walking upstairs to the upper floor of a cell block, and his actions to climb over the rail and drop appear to have been deliberate.

Officers say Favor was taken to IU Health Bloomington in critical condition. Next of kin were notified and two sisters were present when he died at 9:46 Sunday morning.
