Powerball Jackpot Draws Local Ticket Buyers

The prize for the Powerball is now $1.5 billion.

Local Kroger employees say about 90 percent of their customers in the last few weeks have come for lottery tickets.

Money Service employees at a Bloomington Kroger say about 90 percent of their customers in the last few weeks have come for lottery tickets. That's about three times more ticket holders than they usually receive.

At one location, the workers say they ran out of play slips. Those are the tickets that players fill out with their chosen numbers. One employee says that this is the first time she's seen that happen.

Jackie Douglas is a Bloomington resident, and she doesn't play the lottery often. Just last week though, she bought three tickets.

"I figure you got to play to win so, I don't know, why not try?"

Your chances of winning with one ticket is 1 in 292 million. The next chance to find out if you're a winner is Wednesday night.
