Noon Edition: School Start Times

Next year, Monroe County Community Schools Corporation students will get their day started at least twenty minutes later than they do now.

The corporation pushed back school start times for all students during the next academic year, and on  Noon Edition, we'll discuss how and why that decision was made.

Reports by the American Academy of Pediatrics show that letting students sleep later will help them with their academic performance and mental health.

We'll discuss how parents have been involved in the decision-making process, and why the school corporation decided to adjust school start times.

Join hosts Bob Zaltsberg and Sara Wittmeyer as they explore how this change will impact students, parents, and the school corporation.

Our guests:

Jenny Olmes Stevens, Parent, Jackson Creek Middle School

Tim Pritchett, Monroe County Community School Corporation, Public Relations and Information Officer

Walter Bourke, Visiting Assistant Professor of Education, IU School of Education
