Bloomington police are investigating a shooting near South Grant Street and East Smith Avenue early Sunday morning.

According to a news release, officers responded to gunshots and several people fleeing from a party in the area around 2 a.m. This weekend marked Indiana University-Bloomington's homecoming celebration.

Police arrested one suspect, Gabriel Alsman, on preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement, recklessness with a firearm, marijuana possession and theft — for possessing a handgun that was reported stolen.

A 23-year old man and an 18-year-old woman both sustained gunshot wounds and are in stable condition.

The Bloomington Police Department says one suspected shooter is still at large and that anyone with information on the incident should contact Detective Josh Burnworth at (812)349-3363.
