Nonprofit Looks To Expand Jobs For The Blind With New Headquarters

Officials with an Indianapolis-based nonprofit organization that works to create opportunities for the blind say new headquarters will help expand the group's community impact.

Bosma Enterprises President and CEO Lou Moneymaker presented the new building in a ribbon cutting ceremony Friday.

"With the hard work and dedication of our staff and with support of our donors, legislators, volunteers, I'm confident Bosma will soon be a model for how to provide visionary solutions for people who are blind or visually impaired," Moneymaker says.

Moneymaker says the nearly 170,000 square foot facility will allow the organization to expand its business lines and job opportunities.

Bosma is one of about 90 National Industries for the Blind agencies across the country and is the largest employer of blind people in Indiana.

Late last month, Bosma joined a federal lawsuit against the Department of Veterans Affairs alleging the agency ignored a long-standing law when it changed contracting rules that have been used for decades to give jobs to the visually impaired.
