Indiana University tuition rates will increase by 1.4 percent each of the next two years.
The IU Board of Trustees approved tuition and fee rates Wednesday in Indianapolis. The increase equals $145 at IU Bloomington and $129 at IUPUI for the upcoming school year.
Nonresident undergraduate tuition at IU Bloomington will increase 1.75 percent each of the next two years.
IU President Michael McRobbie in a statement calls the increases modest saying it ensures students complete their degrees on time.
"This also helps advance a positive agenda for Indiana University's future to produce more Hoosier graduates who have the skills necessary to succeed in today's global job market," McRobbie says.
The increase is the first at IU Bloomington since 2015.
IU's five regional campuses will see a 1.9 percent increase in undergraduate tuition.
Ball State's trustees also approved a tuition hike Wednesday. It's a 1.25 percent increase for in-state undergraduates. The hike is the school's smallest increase in more than 40 years.
