Planned Parenthood Of Indiana And Kentucky Announces New CEO

Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky (PPINK) says Christie Gillespie will take over as the new President and CEO of the organization starting July 1.

Gillespie will replace current CEO Betty Cockrum, who's retiring after leading the non-profit for 15 years. Gillespie previously served in leadership roles at the Community Alliance of the Far Eastside, the Indiana Association for Community Economic Development and the United Way of Central Indiana.

"I believe that PPINK's mission is more important than ever and am excited by the opportunity to lead this amazing organization," Gillespie said in a statement. "I have been a long-standing supporter of PPINK and am looking forward to ensuring the people of Indiana and Kentucky continue to receive the quality health care PPINK provides."

Over the past two years, PPINK has worked with the ACLU to challenge Indiana laws surrounding women's health and abortion. Earlier this year the ACLU filed a lawsuit on PPINK's behalf asking the courts to halt portions of a controversial abortion law passed during the legislative session.
