The Bartholomew County Sheriff's Department says an officer discovered a 17-year-old girl who appeared to have overdosed in a Walmart parking lot Tuesday.
Police say the teen's vehicle was still running with the lights on when an officer responded. He found the girl unconscious in the front seat and administered two doses of the overdose-antidote Narcan before an ambulance arrived.
The teen was taken to a Columbus hospital. Police say her status is unknown.
"We must create a strong foundation of communication with our children," Bartholomew County Sheriff Matthew Myers said in a statement. "Talk with them about drugs and alcohol and let them know the consequences for bad choices."
